recommended toys

Here’s some of the toys/tools I use with Vonnegut and Schiele everyday which I recommend for all bird owners. I’ve included the Amazon links to make it easy for you (just click the images or captions).

Sola wood bird chews are a special favourite of my two Indian Ringneck parrots, Vonnegut and Schiele. They’ll chew through one of these each in a day. Sola wood is light but super crunchy so its great for smaller beaks and it makes a cute crunch when they bite into them.

Dried yucca chips are another favourite. These are great as foot toys. I keep mine in a big bowl and Vonnegut and Schiele can pull one out to chew whenever they like. They’re also easy to poke a stainless steel skewer through and hang up in a cage or aviary.

Yucca bird kabob are a ready-to-hang version of yucca chips. I like to hang these up in their aviary (or cages) during the day. You can even push little sunflower seeds into the yucca to encourage your birds to forage and dig them out with their beaks.

Bird balls are a great toy for birds, particularly for playing fetch with birds. The holes in these bird toys make it easy for birds to pick up with their beaks. I leave these lying around the house and often Vonnegut and Schiele will fly down, pick one up and bring it to me, letting me know they’re ready for a game of fetch.
